New Education Centre

Overview

Prakash Consulting was retained in 2017 as the Prime Consultant and Structural Engineer for the design and delivery of a new Education Centre in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. The facility was developed to provide an integrated educational and community-focused environment supporting early childhood development, post-secondary learning, and health services.

The project was successfully completed through a Construction Management delivery approach in collaboration with RNF Ventures.

Design Approach

The new 14,175 sq. ft. facility was designed as a modern wood-framed structure that balances functionality, durability, and efficient construction practices. The building program includes dedicated spaces for infant and toddler daycare services, a Headstart program, two pre-kindergarten classrooms, and three post-secondary classrooms, creating a flexible learning environment for a wide range of users.

In addition to educational spaces, the facility incorporates a fully functional dental suite equipped with two dental chairs, expanding access to healthcare services within the community.

The design emphasized efficient space planning, long-term durability, and the use of practical structural systems suited to northern Saskatchewan conditions. The wood framing system provided a cost-effective and sustainable solution while supporting an accelerated construction schedule and architectural flexibility.
